Lino Lakes, Minnesota (April 11, 2012) – Former contestants on the “The Biggest Loser” Dan and Jackie Evans are hosting a Kids Fit Event Powered by EONI® at Centennial Middle School in Lino Lakes on May 15, 2012 to empower kids to achieve a healthy lifestyle.
“We are so excited to visit the school and reward the students for training hard and discovering the benefits of fitness,” said Jackie. “It’s important that we create a voice and help the youth develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to be physically active for a lifetime.”
As participants in a Kids Fit event, children can be finishers of a full or half marathon over a period of four, eight or twelve weeks with the guidance of their parents or teachers. The students will complete their last mile at the event to receive their awards and recognition.
Around 1,500 students in grades 6-8th will be training and logging their miles in preparation for this event. The Activities Coordinator at the school, Cindy Hinman, has been an avid marathon runner and wanted her students to feel the same sense of accomplishment for completing a race. She has teamed up with the Kids Fit Foundation to encourage the students to incorporate physical fitness in their everyday routine.
Having lost a combined weight of 225 pounds on NBC’s “The Biggest Loser”, Dan and Jackie are sharing their story with the nation as they’ve launched the Kids Fit Foundation, a nonprofit organization designed to encourage youth to become more active and live healthier lives.
The race starts at 9:00am. After the run, Nashville recording artist Dan Evans will be performing for the students to celebrate their fitness accomplishments.
